Call for Submissions: The Colloquium

The English Students’ Association is officially calling for submissions for The Colloquium! The Colloquium is an upcoming conference for English undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty to present on a topic they are passionate about. It is a great opportunity to share your work and discuss ideas with other people in the English Department. The conference will be held in the Dodson Room on January 31, 2015 and the submission deadline is Friday, December 5, 2014. Please find the conference and submission details below:

Submission Information

Who can submit?

All English undergraduate and graduate students are invited to submit their work.

What should I submit?

We are looking for 15-20 minute presentations. Please send us a 300 word abstract on your topic and, if applicable, the paper on which your presentation is based. If you are not basing your presentation on a paper please provide an outline that explains your topic, argument, and how you will be sharing your ideas. Please do not include your name on the abstract and paper/outline.

There is no specific theme for The Colloquium so we encourage you to submit a topic on what you are most passionate about!

When should I submit?

The submissions deadline is Friday, December 5, 2014.

Where should I submit?

Please email your submission package to the English Students’ Association at english.ubc[at]gmail.com. We ask that you include your full name, preferred email address, and your current level of study (undergraduate or graduate) in the email.

Conference Information

When: The Colloquium will be on January 31st, 2015. Time TBA.

Where: The Colloquium will take place on-campus in the Dodson Room (in Irving K. Barber Learning Centre).

Who can attend?

The Colloquium is free and open to the general public so bring your friends!

Who is presenting?

We are currently calling for submissions for our undergraduate and graduate presenters (see above) and will be announcing our faculty presenters soon.
